All together there are 49 Achievements giving you a total of 1000 Gamerscore upon completion. Single Player Achievments
Single Player Achievements are completed while in the Single Player Campaign and once the Story is Completed. These Achievements are 1-40 on the list above. In this guide I will outlay the specifications of each Achievement and some possible ways of completing them. Lets Get Started.

Missions
These Achievements Occur While you are playing the story line of Grand Theft Auto IV. These are mandatory and all will be completed if you finish the main storyline. These achievements are 1-10 on the list above.

Off The Boat is the first achievement you will acquire in the game. All that is required is you 'Complete The First Mission'. The achievement will be unlocked after you complete the mission "The Cousins Bellic". As all other GTA games this mission acts as an introduction to driving, navigation and your first friend in Liberty City. This is an easy achievement for an easy 5 gamerscore.
Off The Boat---------5G
Off The Boat is the first achievement you will acquire in the game. All that is required is you 'Complete The First Mission'. Complete the mission "Museum Piece". This mission is slightly harder and definitely worth the 10G it is offering. Someones decides they also want the diamonds and things get interesting in the museum. You might have to try this mission a few times if you don't stick in cover and take your time taking out the enemies in your way.

Impossible Trinity ---10G
Complete the mission "Museum Piece". This mission is slightly harder and definitely worth the 10G it is offering. Someones decides they also want the diamonds and things get interesting in the museum. Full Exploration-------20G

Complete the GTA: IV storyline in under 30 hours.

"Hints:
- If you skip cutscenes, you will save time BUT you'll miss the story. We advise you to enjoy GOTY!!!!!!
- Taxi journeys with the A skip are fantastic as they don't advance the clock. You can get from one side of the city to the other with the click of a button. Only the load times count.
- With autosave on, after every successful mission it saves. Which means if you fail or take too long on a mission, that you can just load the autosave and start at the end of the last mission.
- 94 missions in 30 hours equates to just over 3 missions an hour, therefore 20 mins a mission. Some are obviously shorter and some are obviously longer, but 30 hours is a doable figure.

Liberty City Minute----30G

Friends
These Achievements funny enough involve your friends that you find throughout the storyline of GTA IV. These Achievements are 11-15 on the list above. Keep your friends happy and they will reward you some shiny emblems that happen to bring you some tasty Gamerscore.....Filler up boys!

Unlock the special ability of taxi.
"Cousin, It's your cousin, Roman" This Achievement is unlocked when your 'like' percentage is above 60%. (You can check your progress by pressing Start going to the Stats menu going down to General then under Roman Like)
This ability ables you to call up Roman and get him to send one of his taxis to pick you up from wherever you are. Thanks Cousin

Is awake: 24 hours a day
Favorite Activities: Bowling, Darts, Drinking, Eating, Pool, Show, and Strip Club
Eating Preferences: Favorite restaurant is Burger Shot. Early in the game when you're poor, he'll eat anywhere, as you progress through the game, he prefers only high class restaurants.
Nightspot Preference: Anywhere
Driving Mr. Bellic------10G
Unlock the special ability of taxi.

This ability ables you to call Brucie and unlike Roman, Brucie actuall comes to the nearest Heli Pad to pick you up and take you to another Heli Pad of your choice......not the handiest but nice try.

This ability ables you to call Packie and he will leave a bomb somewhere nearby. When your close to a car you can place the bomb under it and then blow it up....fun times

Unlock the special ability of phoning for a bomb to be placed.
This is exactly the same type of thing as "That's How We Roll!" seen above except you want Packie liking you. It will unlock when your like level is above 75% and disappear when under 30%. (You can check your progress by pressing Start going to the Stats menu going down to General then under Packie)
This ability ables you to call Packie and he will leave a bomb somewhere nearby. When your close to a car you can place the bomb under it and then blow it up....fun times

After meeting all possible friends, the ones left alive all like you above 90%.
The Liberty City 5 are: Roman, Brucie, Packie, Dwayne and Little Jacob.
Through the game it is possible that some of these characters will die...as the Achievement says. "The one's left alive", so don't worry if you kill people..you can still get the achievement.
I wish i killed them because making all 5 happy is hard work.
Liberty City (5)---------20G
After meeting all possible friends, the ones left alive all like you above 90%.
The Liberty City 5 are: Roman, Brucie, Packie, Dwayne and Little Jacob.
Through the game it is possible that some of these characters will die...as the Achievement says. "The one's left alive", so don't worry if you kill people..you can still get the achievement.
I wish i killed them because making all 5 happy is hard work.

Activities
The four activities Achievements involve the activities you can do while in the world of GTA IV. From pool to bowling Liberty City has it all well four of them and they are quite easy to get. No. 16-19 on the list located at the top of the page

In a darts game score 180 with 3 darts.
This one is quite simple yet it may take a few times to do it. Just go to the bar where the dartboard is on your map. you don't have to do this with a friend but if you do it with a friend then you can boost your friends like % and possibly help towards "Liberty City (5)". Walk into the bar and start the game using the 'Left Bumper'
. If you have never played darts before then you may actually need to know how to play.

"The particular game played in the pubs is "301" which means that both players start at 301, and work their way down to 0. You need to hit 0 exactly, if you go over (under) you will bust and have to try again.
On the board you will notice 20 slices each worth a different number of points. Shoot the dart into a slice, and you will knock that amount of points off your total on your way down to zero. Along the outer rim of the board, you will notice a ring. This ring is worth double. So if you're shooting at a 20, and your dart lands in the double ring, it's worth 40. Likewise, you will notice an inner ring, which is worth triple points (and the one needed for this achievement).As you work your way down to zero, you need to keep in mind that your final dart that brings you exactly to zero must be shot into the doubles ring in order for you to win.
For example, if you have 13 points, shooting a 13 will bust your score (no double), as well as shooting a 14 will (going over). An example of a winning set for a 13 score would be to shoot a 3, and then a double 5 for your final dart."
So shoot into the inside ring on the 20 wedge 3 times and this should unlock.
One Hundred And Eighty--10G
In a darts game score 180 with 3 darts.

Beat a friend at pool.
Completely Simple Achievement but a gain may take a few attempts. Once again phone up a friend and ask them to play pool with you. Once you've picked them up the place will be on you map so drive them there. Once at the Pub just start up the game and beat the friend you are versing. If you don't know how to play here is a breif description fromxbox360achievements.org:
"In essence, one player shoots the striped balls in, the other shoots the solids, and once a player has their balls sunk, they may shoot for the 8-ball. When the 8 is pocketed after all other balls are, that player wins. However, if the 8 is pocketed before the rest of your balls, you lose.
When it's your turn, you will see a dotted white line coming from your ball. This is the path your ball will take when you shoot. The computer actually does a very good job of lining the shots up for you. If you do no aiming, take the shot that it gives you, you should make the ball almost every time.
When you are looking down the path your ball will take, press
to enter shooting mode. Now pull
back to pull the stick back, and push it forward to shoot. Those are the basics you will need to win the game. Almost all advanced billiards mechanics such as English are included in the game, but to obtain the achievement you shouldn't need to worry about those things.
If you find yourself struggling, as is stated, one of the main rules of billiards is if you shoot the 8 ball early, you lose, so wait and eventually an opponent may shoot that ball in for you, granting you an automatic win."
Just try your best and you should have it in no time.
Pool Shark-------------10G
Beat a friend at pool.
Completely Simple Achievement but a gain may take a few attempts. Once again phone up a friend and ask them to play pool with you. Once you've picked them up the place will be on you map so drive them there. Once at the Pub just start up the game and beat the friend you are versing. The computer actually does a very good job of lining the shots up for you. If you do no aiming, take the shot that it gives you, you should make the ball almost every time.
When you are looking down the path your ball will take, press
to enter shooting mode. Now pull back to pull the stick back, and push it forward to shoot. Those are the basics you will need to win the game. Almost all advanced billiards mechanics such as English are included in the game, but to obtain the achievement you shouldn't need to worry about those things.If you find yourself struggling, as is stated, one of the main rules of billiards is if you shoot the 8 ball early, you lose, so wait and eventually an opponent may shoot that ball in for you, granting you an automatic win."

Score 3 strikes in a row, a turkey, in 10-pin bowling.
If GTA IV's bowling mechanic was well built and easy to use then i would say that this achievement was easy to get. Unfortunately i didn't look at walkthroughs for help and spent about $1000 and 3 hours with my Girlfriend bowling. But as most walkthroughs tell you and as i found out there is a sure fire way to get three strick is a row.
It doesn't matter if you play a half game or a full game but a full game gives you a better oppurtunity as if you get two strikes then your game ends it doesn't carry over. When you get to the bowling alley walk to the 1st lane on the left.Wait till Niko gets the ball. Hold the 'Left Stick'
to the left, till Niko does 2 whole steps to the left. This is important to do or he will not be lined up properly. Press 'A' to get into shooting position. Push the 'Right Stick' down for 1 second (if you bring it back too soon, you will throw the ball too fast and you won't get the strike), then push it back up. I find by putting the stick in the middle of a flat palm and moving it back and forward straight away also works. When pushing it forward, try to push it straight up, and just a hair to the right. Repeat 2 more times in a row for the achievement.
It is hard but can be done if you follow those steps.
Gobble Gobble--------10G

These Odd Jobs are given out by friends through cell phone or email and Side Missions are random things you can do throughout the game at anytime. These achievements are hard work but count towards your 100% completion of Grand Theft Auto IV. These achievements are No. 20-28 in the list at the top of the page.

Complete all 10 package delivery jobs.These are Little Jacob's side missions, he wants you to deliver some 'Product' for him.
This is quite easy and there are only 10 so it won't take you much time to do. Just phone Jacob up when you feel like it and he will give you directions to his car where he has stashed the 'product'. Luckily the car is always in the same place so if you remember where it is then you can get there faster by already being on your way. You can use the car to help you get to the places but that makes the missions quite difficult. The best form of transport is the taxi. Hail a taxi after phoning Jacob and get him to drop you at the car. as soon as you get out hail the taxi again. It will wait there for a while. Get into the marked car then as soon as your in get out and run to the taxi. get in the taxi and give him the directions to the objective and press 'A' to skip. Get out and deliver the package. There are three types of drops. Timed: where you have a certain amount of time to get to the buyer before he leaves. Eliminate: Where you have to eliminate some gang members who "knew" where the hiding spot was and then Evade: where you have to lower your wanted level and evade the police. These are all quite easy just make sure you have some weapons anytime you do this mission just incase the you get the gang member one.

After completing the mission, "Truck Hustle" you unlock the option to complete assassination missions. You will notice a grey cross hair on your map. This is the location of the pay phone that you will get your mission from. Go to the phone and answer the call, and you will be given instructions on which target you will be taking out. Once at the location, exterminate the target by any means you feel most comfortable with. All that matters is that they die.

A Surprisingly difficult achievement which may take some time and a few deaths. The simplest way of doing this is either getting lucky or making a road trip down to the airports southern runway. In the middle of the runway are little yellow signs....if you drive fast and launch on them they send you into a spin. see if you can get 5 rolls. there is a way of chaining rolls and thats how i got it... check out this video to see how its done

You have a safe house outside of Middle Park in Algonquin. Stock up on weapons and ammo (be sure to grab armor), then go to it. You can grab a few big cars for cover, but that's unnecessary. Shoot a few random civilians to get a cop to appear, then shoot him for 3 stars. A chopper will appear, and you can RPG that down for possibly 4 or 5 stars. Through any means, get 4 or 5 stars, then head inside. Don't go upstairs, just take cover on the left side (as you enter), at the top of the stairs.
Pick off the cops as they enter the doors to get a 6-star rating. Any method you use to get 6 stars is alright, it's this part that's important. Go to the yellow arrow icon to teleport upstairs. You will now be in your loft, and in the search radius, but completely out of reach to the cops. Just hang out for 5 minutes and save the game when your done so that you don't have a wanted level when you get back.

Then let go of and press and you'll be transported to your destination with no police around, so your level will disappear. This only works in one of your cousin's cabs, as in a standard taxi, the driver will run away if you earn a wanted level.

You must blow up 10 vehicles in 10 seconds.
A simple achievement that may take you a few goes at it before you get it perfect. Get to a weapon shop and stock up on grenades and rocket launcher ammo. Head to a car dense intersection (a few favorites are Star Junction and the tunnel connecting the second island to the third). once at your desired spot steal a car and park it across the intersection. Steal a few others and place them so no cars can drive through. whip out a grenade and chuck it to the back of the cars. then pull out your rocket launcher and fire like a mad man. don't stop until you run out of rockets or until you see the achievement pop up. If you fail just try another spot or steal a few more cars. Make sure there are more than ten cars cause some will drive away or disappear.

You must blow up 10 vehicles in 10 seconds.
A simple achievement that may take you a few goes at it before you get it perfect. Get to a weapon shop and stock up on grenades and rocket launcher ammo. Head to a car dense intersection (a few favorites are Star Junction and the tunnel connecting the second island to the third). once at your desired spot steal a car and park it across the intersection. Steal a few others and place them so no cars can drive through. whip out a grenade and chuck it to the back of the cars. then pull out your rocket launcher and fire like a mad man. don't stop until you run out of rockets or until you see the achievement pop up. If you fail just try another spot or steal a few more cars. Make sure there are more than ten cars cause some will drive away or disappear.

"Here's an alternate method involving motorcycles, which can be bunched together in a much smaller space than cars, and blow up easier to boot:
- There's a motorcycle dealership in northern Alderny, you can find it on this map and set yourself a waypoint in the game.
- Call Packie and have him drop a bomb off for you nearby.
- Place the bomb on a car, and drive it into the motorcycle shop.
- There should be maybe eight motorcycles parked in this shop, use your car to pack them tightly together, preferably in a line.
- Once you have them smushed together, park your car on one side of the line.
- Jack another car, park it on the opposite side. This should bring you up to ten.
- You might not even need it, I didn't, but stand outside of the dealership with your rocket launcher and then call Packie to detonate the bomb.
- Everything should blow up real nice. If not, make use of your rocket quickly."

Come first in 20 singleplayer street races.
After completing the mission "Number 1" for Brucie, you unlock the ability to compete in street races. Brucie will call you on your phone soon after the mission is over, and explain that any time you want to race, give him a call to set one up. Win 20 races to unlock the achievement.
Now, initially you only have the option to do 9 races, as is the total required for 100%. You need to be standing on the 1st island and call Brucie, he will then set you up for one of the three possible races on the 1st island. Once all three are completed, he will tell you that there are no more. You then need to travel to Algonquin, call him, win those three races, then go to Alderney, call him, and win those three races.
After that, he will send you a text message telling you that you won all the races, and can call him back whenever to race any of them again. At this point, you have completed your quota for 100% completion, but still need 11 more for the achievement. At this point, they work like every other friend activity. Sometimes he won't answer, sometimes he won't know of any, and sometimes he'll set you up with a race.

Simply you just have to take the time for a taxi ride. The simplest way to do this achievement is to call a taxi and set the waypoint for one side of a bridge. Get out, call the taxi again and set the waypoint for the other side of the bridge. Simple. Otherwise just grab a taxi and have a wonderful and joyous cruise through the complex world of Liberty City

Fly on all helicopter tours of Liberty City.
This can be pretty tricky. Just head over to the Helitours icon which is situated at the bottom of the second island. There are 5 tours you have to take and these are resembled by the helicopters on the helipads. If a helicopter is not there don't worry just come back later. You can skip the tours if you want but there is some funny dialouge and some nice sights to hear and see.
